¡ LAS TRES CLAVES PARA APRENDER ESPAÑOL!

No, aprender idiomas no es tan difícil como podrías pensar (o como algunos te han dicho). Y por supuesto, aprender español es una meta alcanzable. También para ti. Pero, como con muchos otros objetivos en la vida, lo que a menudo falla es el CÓMO lo hacemos.  Si de verdad vas a hacerlo, si vas a tomártelo en serio esta vez, desde mi experiencia te digo que hay tres elementos que es imprescindible que trabajes.

1)     La MOTIVACIÓN. En primer lugar tienes que pensar POR QUÉ quieres aprender español. Puede ser que lo necesites para mejorar en el trabajo, porque es la lengua materna de tu pareja, porque quieres viajar a un país hispanohablante, porque disfrutas aprendiendo o… ¡simplemente porque quieres demostrarte a ti mismo que eres capaz! Lo importante es que tengas MUY CLAROS TUS MOTIVOS. Y después, tenlos siempre muy presentes. Si es necesario, escríbelos y ponlos en algún lugar donde puedas verlos.

2)     La ESTRATEGIA. Perfecto. Ya tenemos el PORQUÉ. Ahora vamos a trabajar en el CÓMO. Tómate tu tiempo para decidir cuál es el mejor sistema para ti, tus necesidades y tus circunstancias. Cada persona es un mundo y lo que funciona con otros no necesariamente va a funcionar contigo. Ahora es el momento de definir tu nivel de conocimientos, si vas a aprender solo o con la ayuda de un profesor, si vas a utilizar alguna aplicación o página web… y algo MUY IMPORTANTE es definir también cuánto tiempo vas a poder dedicarle, con qué regularidad y cuáles son tus objetivos en el tiempo. No te dejes llevar por el entusiasmo y establece METAS REALISTAS. Si después aprendes más rápido de lo que pensabas ¡fantástico! Pero si sucede lo contrario corres el riesgo de frustrarte ¡Y la frustración tenemos que evitarla sea como sea!

3)     Y tan importante como los dos anteriores es la DISCIPLINA ¿De qué sirve diseñar una buena estrategia si después no vas a tomártela en serio? Recuerda por qué empezaste todo esto. Era algo importante PARA TI. No para tu hermana, tu amigo o tu vecino. PARA TI. Es una cuestión de COMPROMISO CONTIGO MISMO. Por supuesto habrá días en los que estés cansado o te falte la motivación. Es completamente normal. No pasa nada si en alguna ocasión no sigues el plan previsto. Pero es importante que no lo hagas a menudo o acabarás por encontrar alguna excusa para abandonar tu objetivo y eso… ¡NUNCA!

THE THREE KEYS TO LEARN SPANISH!

No, learning languages is not as difficult as you may think (or as some people have told you). And, of course, learning Spanish is also a goal that you can achieve. But, as with many other goals in life, what very often doesn’t work is HOW we do it. If you are really going to do it, if you are going to take it seriously this time, I can say that from my own experience there are three elements which you need to work on.

1. MOTIVATION. First of all, you have to think about WHY you want to learn Spanish. It could be that you need it to do better at work, because it’s your partner’s mother tongue, because you want to travel to a Spanish speaking country, because you enjoy learning or… simply because you want to prove to yourself that you are able to do it! The most important thing is to make sure your REASONS are VERY CLEAR. And, later, always keep them in mind. If necessary, write them down and put them in a place where they can be seen.

1. STRATEGY. Perfect. So now we have the REASON. Next we have to work on HOW to do it. Take your time to decide which is the best system for you, your needs and circumstances. Each person is different and what works with some people may not necessarily work with you. Now is the moment to define your level of knowledge, if you are going to learn alone or with the help of a teacher, if you are going to use an application or website… And something VERY IMPORTANT is also to define how much time you will devote to this activity, how regularly you will do it or which are your objectives in time. Don’t let enthusiasm control your decisions and set REALISTIC GOALS. If in the end you learn faster than expected, great! But if the opposite happens, you run the risk of getting frustrated. And frustration must be avoided, no matter what!

1. And DISCIPLINE is as important as the two previous elements.  What’s the point of designing a good strategy if later you are not going to take it seriously? Remember why you started all this. It was something that is important TO YOU. Not to your sister, your friend or your neighbor. TO YOU. It is a matter of a COMMITMENT WITH YOURSELF. Of course there will be days when you are tired or there is no motivation. This is completely normal. It doesn’t matter if, sometimes, you don’t follow the plan. But it is important that you don’t do that often or you will finally find some excuse to abandon your goal and that… MUST NEVER HAPPEN!
